Revival By Mercy

Text: Psalms 85:6-7 KJV

Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? Shew us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation.

MESSAGE

Revival is bringing to life what is dead or dying to its original state. No one would deny that there is a need for revival in the church today, with the increasing worldliness and sensuality one would not argue that there is an urgent need for the invasion of God’s Holy Spirit.

There are many families today who need revival, many homes that have been wrecked by divorce and separation, children lost to the world, and many rebels in the homes – there is no doubt that we need God to brood upon our homes.

Our society is wrecked and must be restored before it totally ruins. The figures are bad and you consider it for yourself. The world population stands at 7.8+ billion People on earth and about 3.28  Billion unreached with the Gospel.

The sad woe of abortion is a cause for concern with 121 million unwanted pregnancies, and 73.3 million abortions yearly, you can be sure we need revival.

The horrible impact of pornography on society and the church is alarming – generally, things are bad everywhere and we sure need a reviving.

In our text of the day, we hear such a similar cry for revival, that God’s people may rejoice in Him. Today there is no joy in our society, homes, and many lives. We have been overwhelmed by the onslaught of evil displayed around us. Nothing can bring hope but God.

When men’s back is pushed against the wall as we see in our country today, we know it’s either revival or more chaos. We need revival desperately so that we may see men born again of the Spirit, churches on fire, dead denominations come alive, and the wall of denominationalism broken down.

We must pray and plead with God that He would rend the heavens and come down (Isaiah 64:1). But revival comes by mercy. Not by might nor by power but by my Spirit says the Lord of Hosts (Zechariah 4:6). Have you prayed for revival as I have prayed? But have you prayed for mercy that brings revival?

Some nights ago I was in a prayer meeting where a man leading prayer asked us to read the 85th psalms and the 6th verse. Somehow for the first time, I paid attention to the seventh verse. Oh how I have prayed for revival without trusting to receive it by mercy. I see the secrete, it is mercy.

The Bible says in the rebuilding of the broken city of Jerusalem, God had to bestow mercy to give them a reviving. (Ezra 9:9). Mercy is an integral part of having any form of revival.

If we want to see our years of toiling come to end, have our rebellious and unsaved children saved, the church restored to God, the society cleaned out from all the mess of sin, then let us ask God for revival by His mercy.

Let us come boldly to the throne of grace and obtain mercy for revival. It is true that we must have revival, but we may not have it until the sceptre of mercy is stretched by the King of kings.

REFLECTION

But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.

Psalms 86:15

Let us cry to our God, that He may show us mercy and send us Revival. Nothing is more urgent than for God to step down and give us a Revival. May God be merciful and compassionate to us in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you and have a great day.
