MESSAGE
Prayer is an integral part of the Christian life. To separate a Christian from prayer is to separate him from his source of power and strength. Prayer is the power of the Saint, therefore the weakest of saints may be the one who said the most feeble prayers.
In one of our previous lessons we spoke about praising God in the valley, today we want to see the power of prayer in bringing a man victory in the valley. While it is important to advise that believers must pray and in order not to become prey I.e. the believer should not wait until the valley experience comes before making prayer his lifestyle.
Prayer is the fuel powering the engine of the believer. Apostle Paul admonishes the believer to pray without ceasing in all seasons. This is very crucial to living a victorious Christian life. The Lord said in Luke 18:1, that men ought always to pray and not faint. We know prayer carries power, we must engage this power in our valley.
In our reading of the day, Daniel and his three friends were about to be executed with all the wise men of Babylon. They had just stood before the king as the wisest men in the earlier chapter, they were on the mountain top. How quickly does the devil come after the believer after major victories? We must always be on the watch as the hymn writer wrote:
Christian, seek not yet repose;
Hear thy guardian Angel say;
Thou art in the midst of foes;
Watch and Pray.
It is difficult to pray in the valley, despondency, fear, and anxiety are most likely to have encumbered the heart, but the Bible admonishes that in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, we must make our requests known to God.
This text of the day encourages us the believers that even in the valley we should pray. We must seek for the mercies of God, we can not simply leave our lives to chance. We must pray.
Do you realise how God delights in hearing our prayers when we are in the valley? In Psalms 103:13, the Bible says, God pities us a Father pity his children. However overwhelming the challenges of life may be, we can trust in our prayer-answering Father to hear and deliver us.
God wants us to pray in the valley, it is a proof of our loyalty and confidence in Him. He has already given you a blank check when he said, call upon me in the days of trouble, I answer you and show you great and mighty things you do not know, and also that we shall glorify His name. (Jeremaiah 33:3, Psalms 50:15).
Do not be afraid because God is our very present help in troubles, just call upon Him this morning and He will hear you.
REFLECTION
Reflect upon this verse, check if you the righteousness of God by Christ Jesus and if you live righteously, then you can call upon Him trusting that He will hear. The prayer of a sinner on sinner on the other hand is an abomination to God. Therefore I urge every sinner to forsake their sinful ways and turn to God (Isaiah 55:6-7).
God bless you and have a great morning.
