Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

John 5:24-25

MESSAGE

Many people today sit in the regions of the shadow of death, hopeless and helpless in the piles and ashes of sin. They are dead in sin and trespasses and need to be quickened by the word of God unto salvation.

Until Christ quickened and saved us, we were like them, naked, blind and hopelessly lost. (Ephesians 2:1-3). No one is as dead as a sinner, although he is alive in the natural sense, he is walking time bomb ready to explode and finish his life in hell.

Apart from fact that the sinner is cut off from God’s love, he is also cut off from His rich supplies. If you are living in sin, you are not only blind but dead.

Do you marvel at the recklessness and the carelessness of the sinner when it comes to the matter of reforming his life? He is a dead man, no human effort can help him, he must hear the word of God.

Jesus said in our text of the day that when a sinner hears his word and believes, God justifies the sinner and brings him from death to life. That is, from being dead in sin to becoming alive to righteousness.

The word of God is so powerful that when men who are in the grave of sin hears His word, they come alive to God. The word of God produces conviction and repentance in the heart of the sinner.

The sinner cannot believe in God on his own, he does not have faith, but the creative word of God produces faith in the heart of the sinner to believe unto salvation. (Romans 10:17).

The more reason why the devil pushes the sinners away from hearing the word of God, he knows the efficacy of the word of God to quicken the dead conscience and bring sinners into a living and loving relationship with God.

Jesus is the word of God, God sent His Word (Son) to save us from sin. We are saved because of His Word. God wants to save you from sin and sinning and His instrument of accomplishing this in your life is His word.

The word of God has the power to break the dominion and chains of besetting sin in the life of the Christian. Are you struggling in your Christian walk, ask Him to speak to you again today and victory will be yours.

REFLECTION

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10:9

Repent and confess the Lord Jesus today, and believe in your heart, and you shall be saved.

PRAYER

Father, I repent from all sins and confess the Lord Jesus according to your word, please save me from my sins and from sinning.
