Sin Brings Shame

Text: Genesis 3:7 NKJV

Further Reading: Exodus 32:1-34

Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.

Genesis 3:7

MESSAGE

Sin is darkness. Whenever it is exposed to the light it brings shame. In Genesis chapter 2:25, though Adam and Eve were naked, they were not ashamed because they were in the light. The light of God was their covering.

In the story recorded in our further reading, the Bible describes how sin made the children of Israel naked to their shame before their enemies (Exodus 32:25).

As a child of God, you must beware of sin. Sin strips a man of grace and brings shame to his life. Many great men have been brought to rubble because of sin. Think about the great man Samson becoming a sport to the Philistines. Once a mighty man becoming an object of shame and ridicule. (Judges 16:20-25)

Sin turns a great man into a piece of bread. Do not join the people who claim grace and live in sin. You will only be calling for shame. May you not be disgraced in Jesus’ name.

In our text of the day, Adam and Eve became conscious of their nakedness for the first time. Their covering has been taken away. Now they realised their shame. Sin exposed them to their shame, such that they are now cut away from God’s presence. May we not lose the presence of God.

We are dealing with God who is light and has no darkness whatsoever in Him. Wherever light shines darkness disappears. Light is transparent in the light, I.e light is not ashamed of light. Lights can co-exist without one disturbing the other.

Sin plunged man into darkness and he cannot be in the presence of God. When God was calling out to them, for the first time they hid. They could not face God. They now are cut from God.

Friend, will God find you in the place of fellowship as he used to? Or has sin cut you off from His presence. Are you not hiding from Him? Are you backslidden at heart? This morning God is calling you, Where are you?

Blessed is the man who keeps his garment lest he walks naked and people see his shame. (Revelation 16:15).

My plea with you today is that you will take a quick examination of your life. Check if you are in the light. Check if you are still in the will of God. Ask yourself, am I still in the faith? (2 Corinthians 13:5).

Don’t be deceived, everything done in the secrete will be brought to light. In case you are living in secrete sin, you must go to cavalry today and plead with the Lord to forgive and deliver you.

If you are still standing in grace, be on the watch out. May the Lord keep your feet from falling. Amen.

REFLECTION

Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

Proverbs 14:34

Sin brings shame and reproach. Walk always in light of Christ’s righteousness daily.

PRAYER

Father, Please keep my feet from falling out of the grace of Jesus Christ and make me overcome every sin and temptations.
