Let God Choose For You

Text: Genesis 13:10-11 KJV

Further Reading: Genesis 13:10-13

And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.

Genesis 13:10-11

MESSAGE

God knows the end from the beginning. That is the reason why we must allow Him to make every choice for us. Whether it is the choice of marital partner, career, business or any other choice we are faced with, we must let Him choose for us (Isaiah 46:10).

Naturally, a man chooses according to what he sees, a mere physical assessment that is subject to change. But our God according to His eternal counsel chose for His children the best He has in mind for them.

When you came into Christ, you came under new management. You are now a loyal subject to Christ, you must trust His judgment and allow Him to do what’s best for you.

In our text of today, we saw Lot lift His eyes and He saw the plain of Jordan, well-watered and beautiful, and so He chose the land. He could not see that Land beyond His physical sight. He quickly chose the Land, it was the wrong Land.

Lot chose a Land deemed for destruction, but who could have believed so? Lot left God almighty who knows everything from the equation – he did not pray or asked for directions from God, he just made the choice.

Some choices are highly consequential and you must involve God from the outset. You must allow Him to choose who to marry, where to live, which career path to take, and so on for you.

Don’t choose the man or the woman for what you see, those can change; allow God who knows what all men would become bring your spouse to you. What you see is subject to decay and fade away but God’s choices are those that will lead to eternal life (Psalms 37:5).

You must trust God and allow Him to choose for you even when His choice doesn’t seem so good or appealing to the eyes, it is the best. Do not allow your eyes, emotions, or mental strength to deceive you, simply let Him lead you. You can make mistakes because you are human, but God never make mistakes (Psalms 118:8-9).

Your choice outside God may look good, but the end may walk you into death (Proverbs 14:12).
You cannot drive your life that way, you must allow God to choice of your life.

REFLECTION

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:18

Fix your eyes upon the Lord and allow Him to choose for you. He will choose your inheritance for you and it will be the best.

PRAYER

Father, I give you the control of my life from today and at every point chose the best for me.
