God Is More Than Enough

Text: Genesis 14:22-23 KJV

Further Reading: Genesis 14:21-24

And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:

MESSAGE

Anyone who has Jesus has everything. That is why it is more important to get the wisdom of God than silver and choice gold. In a materialistic world and a Laodicean kind of church, people are quick to run after wealth and material gain.

Apostle Paul warned us of certain men who would say that “gain is godliness” and from such we must withdraw ourselves (1 Timothy 6:5). Let me reiterate this truth to you: it is better to have God and have nothing of material possession than to have everything without God. But in all honesty, there is no way you will have God and lack anything.

Heed the warning of Jesus, ” Beware of covetousness, a man is not measured by the amount of things he possesses” (Luke 12:15). A man can have abundance and still be a fool (Luke 12:16-20).

Our attempt this morning is not to cast any shadow on material blessings, but rather a God first approach with the promise of receiving every other thing as a bonus.

Abram had just come back from the conquest of the kings with lots of goodies, but will not allow his judgement to be clouded by mere things of Sodom. He was the man who has God for his possession, why should he take the cursed things of Sodom?

He said, “I have lifted up mine hand unto the Lord, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth” – It also means I have lifted up my eyes unto God and my help comes from Him who made the heaven and earth (Psalms 121:1-2). Who are you looking at for help? Yourself, the people around you, or the government?

Many would have quickly taken of such things, Achan did and he perished, likewise did Gehazi and became leprous. We must beware lest we also end up in this pit.

Our God is not only able to meet our needs but also the All-Sufficient God. God is more than enough, all we need to do is trust Him wholeheartedly and He will meet all those needs (Philippians 4:19).

Are you trusting Him with your needs? Rather than try to work something crooked for yourself, why not allow Him to do what He can do. He has a track record of not failing. He will never fail you.

God is enough, stop running by your strength. He is more than able to take care of you and give you lasting joy. Wait on Him and Trust.

REFLECTION

Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God.

2 Corinthians 3:5

Make God your everything today and begin to enjoy His All Sufficiency.

PRAYER

Father, I am sorry for depending on myself and others in the past, help me put all my trust in your All-Sufficient Power.
