MESSAGE
The Bible says that the foundation of the Lord is sure I.e. God’s standards are fixed for every man and the requirement has been the same from Adam to the last baby before the rapture (2 Timothy 2:19).
God’s demand for perfection has been a subject of debate today among many nominal Christians. They will tell you it is not possible to be Holy and that perfection is not attainable. By perfection, we mean that the Christian always does the right things.
Whether you are among those who debate this truth, it does not change God’s standards for us. God is not unjust and He will never ask a man to do what His grace is not available to supply. Even in times of trials, the Scriptures say that God will not allow a man to be tried above his capacity, and also that God will make a way of escape from that trial (1 Corinthians 10:13).
In our text of the day, we saw God coming to make an everlasting covenant with the man Abram but the condition was that he walked with God and be perfect (blameless). This condition also applies to us today if we will come into the fullness of Christ’s redemptive gifts and benefits.
To walk with a Holy God demands that you live a holy life. The Bible says that you must be Holy as God is Holy (1 Peter 1:15-16). Also, holiness is the will of God for your life (1 Thessalonians 4:3).
The God who demands that you are Holy also has the power to keep you from falling (Jude 1:24) and preserve you blameless until the coming of Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:23). I want to reiterate that holiness is possible because He who has called you Himself can replicate His divine and holy nature In you (1 Thessalonians 4:7).
My joy and consolation is that men have walked this path and they have shown us that God is faithful to His word. Men like Enoch, Abraham, Joseph, Paul and many other followers of Christ in history.
God hasn’t lowered the standard, it’s either you conform to them and be blessed or ignore them and live an unfulfilled Christian life. God’s will for you is to be a victorious Christian and not defeated by sin and unrighteousness.
Make up your mind today to come into this higher calling which is to walk with God in holiness and faithfulness.
Is there any situation in your life that seems humanly impossible? Allow the almighty God to work in your life by first surrendering to Jesus if you are not yet saved and then calling upon Him. Your miracle is on the way.
REFLECTION
Before a man can become anything tangible before God, He must be purged and sacrificed for the Master’s use.
PRAYER
Father, please purge and sanctify unto every good work.
