And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee! And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.

Genesis 17:18-19

MESSAGE

What God want to do with our lives is special, He will not allow any fleshy alternative of man to ruin His eternal purpose. However late we think God is, He is always on time.

As humans, it is very easy to accept the less for the best when we cannot figure out how to get the original. We are quick to settle for the less and carry on with life not because it is the desired goal but because that seems to be what is obtainable.

I hear God say this morning, do not settle for the less, I am still going to do what I promised.  This indeed calls for patience and total faith in God’s unchanging Word, knowing that He is faithful who has promised (Hebrews 10:23).

As a student who aims for the best grade, don’t allow situations around you to make you settle for less, remember God has promised that you will be the head and not the tail. Prepare well in your studies and take God’s promises as it is (Deuteronomy 28:13. Are you married and you have a delay in having children? Trust in God who said there shall be no barren in the land and He will give you children who are signs and wonder. In every area of your life, never settle for an alternative, the best is God’s desire for you and you will surely have it in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Everyone who has breakthrough the barriers of impossibility has simply said no to alternatives. Rachel said to Jacob, give me children or I die, Hannah would not eat until she had Samuel. In the end, resilient faith usually carries the day.

Apart from your personal commitment to God’s Word, He is more committed to doing His work. He will not even allow the unbelief of man to stop Him from performing His goodwill.

In our reading, we saw Abraham present Ishmael as an alternative to inherit the covenant, but God would not take it. His covenant is with Isaac. Beloved, even if your Isaac has not yet come, wait for God and hope in Him who will not put you to shame (Psalms 34:6).

You are born to win, prosper, and be victorious in all areas of your life. Anything short of this is not for you, reject it. Whatever God has promised you, old on to it because He will do it.

You must resist every temptation to settle for the alternative, God wants the best for you. Remember, His plans for you are good and not evil to give you an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11).

REFLECTION

For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.

Proverbs 23:1 8

Don’t accept any alternative to God’s promise for your life, Your Isaac will soon come.

PRAYER

Father, please don’t let me go weary while waiting for your promise.
