MESSAGE
Sin is cancerous and the wickedness of the human heart is terrible. No wonder the Bible speaks of the heart of man as dangerously wicked and deceitful (Jeremiah 17:9). Except for the heart that is washed in the blood of Jesus, a man’s heart by default runs to do evil.
We live in such times when we face more moral evil than what we see in the days of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. Only the mercy of God can keep the believers unstained from the corruption of these end times.
Indeed the wickedness of the people of Sodom was great. The mob of men yelling to have illicit affairs with a group of strangers shows the depth of depravity and carnal decay of these people. Even though Lot wrongly decided to offer them two of his girls who were virgins yet all they wanted was to commit the wicked act with Lot’s guests.
Can you imagine how grieved God was with these people? Bringing the lesson to our own time, we certainly see more wickedness play out in our society. All forms of sexual perversions that men have made lawful. Homosexuality, Pornography, Rape, Abortion, and other sexual vices seem to be here to stay with us. We have people killing others for foolish reasons, we have corruption at its peak in every part of our society and much more wickedness of man that calls for divine judgments.
These are just a few impacts of sin among many others. God is certainly grieved with this generation and we must repent or face judgment. The people of God must repent on behalf of this generation. God has the right to wipe us all out in judgment but if we His people called by His name would humble ourselves and pray; if we would forsake our sins and cry unto Him. He will hear from heaven and forgive our sins and heal our lands (2 Chronicles 7:14).
This is the time for everyone to call on God. The church and people of God can no longer be silent. We must preach the word of God and use every means to convince sinners to turn from wicked ways. The only way we can avert the coming judgment is to repent and pray.
God is slow to anger and plenteous in mercy, He will abundantly pardon if we ask for His mercy.
Will you join the Lord’s army in praying and seeking God’s face for this generation? You can be a part of the people who will pull men out of the darkness by praying and preaching the word of God. It is time to rise and go get the souls.
REFLECTION
Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?
Jonah 3:9
When Nineveh repented, God spared her. He is faithful to pardon this generation if we also repents.
PRAYER
Father, please grant this generation a repentant heart and please have mercy on us.
