God Can Keep You From Sinning

Further Reading: Genesis 20:1-6

And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

Genesis 20:6

MESSAGE

God does not only want to save from sin, He also wants to keep His saints from sinning. Our text of the day will prove to you that our God has the prerogative and power to keep a righteous man from sinning.

In our text, we saw Abimelech king of Gerah take Abraham’s wife because he said she is my sister. But what really caught my attention was how God came to this man to warn him. Abimelech’s argument was simple, “Lord, I didn’t know she is his wife “.

God said to Abimelech, I kept you from sinning. Does this gladen your heart at all that God has the power to keep you also from sinning? The Bible says God can keep your feet from falling (Jude 1:24).

Can you imagine how many times God in His great mercy had come to your rescue before you fall into a particular sin? The many checks of the Spirit to warn you of dangers and the very voice of God leading you away from sin.

If only you will take God by His words, you can live a victorious Christian life. If only you can trust Him that He who saved your soul from sin is capable of keeping you from sinning.

Do not settle for the cheap grace that tolerates sin in a believer’s life. Be an overcomer through the precious blood of Christ. It may look so difficult with man, but through God’s grace, you can walk daily in the victory of Christ.

Listen again to what God says of a believer:

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1 John 3:9

Are you born again and sure of your salvation? The word of God gives me the audacity to inform you that you can live every day without sin because you are born of God.

This provision is for you, will you avail it?

REFLECTION

But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.

2 Timothy 3:3

You can indeed be Holy, for God who has called you has called you not to unrighteousness but unto holiness.

PRAYER

Father, please help me to come fully into the victorious provisions of Calvary over sin today.
