Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Psalms 127:3
MESSAGE
Children are God’s precious gift to parents. The Bible calls them God’s heritage and a reward to the marital institution. They must be well taught and taken care of.
Throughout the ages, satan has been after children. He went after the babies in the time of Moses, and also after little children at the time of the birth of our Lord. Today, it is worse because the enemy does not only wait for these children to be born, he attacks them right from the womb. According to the World Health Organisation, there are about 73.3 million babies murdered through abortion every year.
Children are now being taught about dangerous sexual orientations in schools and programmed for degeneration. The enemy is introducing drugs, pornography, immoralities, and violence to our children through the Internet and social media. Parents must be well-armed in praying and teaching their children the word of God.
Many other children have been victims of child trafficking and abuse. My prayer is that the Lord Jesus will heal these bruised souls and raise them again.
Why is the devil after children? It is because Children have great destinies to fulfil. Some are to become solutions to the problems of their generation. Also, children become parents and whatever kind of parent they become will determine what children they will also raise.
Parents are responsible to take care of these children. God will not hold parents guiltless for their negligence to train their children. Look at Eli, God punished him because he refused to correct his children. The consequence of Eli’s failure in parenting was generational. He and his children died, God took the priesthood from his family line, and a great curse followed (1 Samuel 2:22-36).
The Bible spoke of Abraham as a man who can be trusted to teach the children the law of God. Can God say such about you? Are you not so busy with your career that you neglect them? Do you take time to talk with your children? Do you teach them godly and moral principles?
Today, we see so many untrained children become a nuisance to our communities. They end up becoming terrors because of the negligence of their parents. The Bible made it clear that parents must teach their children in God’s way.
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Deuteronomy 6:7
God has great plans for our children, they are to become a great weapon in His hands to bring nations and peoples back to God. They are to become God’s instrument of liberation and deliverance. They are to stand against the enemy, I.e. the devil in the gates of our lands.
As a parent, you must stand up for your children, don’t be too busy to allow the devil any foothold in their lives. Pray for them and show them by example a godly lifestyle. If your children are not living right, cry to God to help and save them.
My earnest prayer for all the children that the devil had captured is that the Lord will save them and turn their lives around giving them new hopes, visions, and confidence to face their future in Jesus’ Name.
REFLECTION
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6
Children must be trained in the way of the Lord so that they can become what God designed for their lives.
