Genesis 21:22
MESSAGE
Scripture says that it is the blessing of God that makes rich and God adds no sorrow to it (Proverbs 10:22). The blessing and riches obtained from any other source do not only bring sorrow but everlasting sorrow if the one who acquired such wealth does not repent.
Today we see so many people try so many dubious ways to be wealthy. One common trend among our younger people is internet fraud and many of them venture into money rituals so that they can become wealthy. Because these young people want to be rich they go so low as to kill other people to get what they want. This kind of wealth usually ends up destroying them. May you not seek wealth that will ruin you in Jesus’ name.
I want to establish to you this morning that our God is the possessor of heaven and earth. The silver and gold belong to Him, and he owns the cattle on a thousand hills. Our God is the most sufficient and in His abundance can make a man wealthy (Haggai 2:8).
You don’t have to run a shady business or use the false balance to make wealth as a child of God. When you do your work and business diligently and faithfully God will in bless you abundantly. It is God’s will that you prosper and excel in your chosen area of business and life’s endeavours (3 John 1:2).
In our text and reading of the day, you will notice how God has blessed Abraham more than a whole nation. He has become so wealthy and powerful in the land where he was a stranger. The people were so afraid that they needed him to sign an agreement with them that he would not in any way attack them. That is how much God can bless a man and even place him above nations.
God so much blessed Solomon that the Bible recorded this:
And the king made silver in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the low plains in abundance.
2 Chronicles 9:27
You will only be a fool to be running after pieces of stuff that the devil gives. Whatever the devil is offering you is a mere cheap substitute for the best that God has for you. Apart from material blessings, God wants to give you peace and joy that money cannot buy.
This joy and peace is only found in Jesus the prince of peace. Those who have Jesus have everything. The more reason why it is wise to seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness to get everything (Matthew 6:33).
If you have been trying to make wealth by yourself in the past, repent today and turn to God the source of true and lasting blessing.
REFLECTION
But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
Deuteronomy 8:18
God is the giver of true blessings. He also gives the power to get wealth without sorrow being added.
PRAYER
Father, Please bless me and give me the power to get wealth.
