MESSAGE
Contrary to popular opinion, God’s word remains the anchor for the Christian marriage. Heaven and Earth may pass away but God’s word abides forever.
Before you enter into marriage, you must understand that marriage is for life. There is no divorce in Christian marriage. That is why we have been warned against unequal yoking with unbelievers.
When two people come together in marriage, the Bible says that they become one flesh (Genesis 2:24). If or when you separate one from the other, they certainly will be malfunctioning wherever they find themselves. Have you noticed that people who are divorced never seem to have an end to remarriage? They keep looking for completeness when their half had been left incomplete.
Listen to what the scripture says,
What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
1 Corinthians 6:16-17.
We must sound this alarm and warn the church in the Western nations. God said, “I hate divorce” (Malachi 2:16). Why are you sponsoring and practising what God hates? Do you wonder why God is absent in many churches today? The church must repent and return to her first love.
We must not allow cultural changes to sabotage God’s direct verdict. Jesus spoke concerning divorce and the will of God when the marital institution was founded. Moses only permitted them to divorce their wives because of the hardness of their hearts, but from the beginning, it was not so” (Matthew 19:8). Are we not still hardened and heady today? We want to follow the words of Moses above the direct desire of God for marriage.
Death is the only condition for being free from Christian marriage (1 Corinthians 7:39). You would have heard when the couples say, “till death do us part”, not the court but death.
Are you considering marriage, pray very well before you chose your life partner because marriage is for life. Are you in a stormy marriage and you are looking for a way out? Trust God for your spouse and pray for the conversion of his or her heart.
REFLECTION
God’s will is for marriage to be enjoyed, not endured. Therefore let us pray for every Christian marriage that the Lord will still every storm in their homes.
PRAYER
Father, Please heal every family that is contemplating divorce and restore joy to their homes.
