MESSAGE

The marital choice must be approached prayerfully because it has great consequences on your future. Two are better than one the Bible says, but they are better if they married in the will of God (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12).

Today, many people feel you can just pick any random person and marry. This is not the kind of marriage that God expects of a child of God. We must remember that God expects a dividend from every Christian marriage, and it is that they may produce godly seeds. Seeds that the Bible called the heritage of the Lord and reward to the marital institution (Malachi 2:15, Psalms 127:3-5).

You can see the result of people randomly picking spouses for themselves in our society. Many marriages are scattered and others are unhappy. Many of the children from such homes are the pains in our society.

While it is settled that you can not marry an unbeliever, you must also agree that God has a specific person for you. Just as eve was made for Adam, God has made a man or woman designed specifically for you. Therefore you must pray to know the person God has made to be your life partner.

In our text and reading of the day, the servant of Abraham prayed. He asked God to guide his choice. The destiny of Isaac depends greatly upon who he marries, therefore this servant asked God who knows the end from the beginning to guide him in picking the best for his master’s son. God heard this prayer and chose the best for him.

Do you want to marry the best God has in my mind for you? Then pray! Don’t be deceived by sight, activity or gift. God knows the best and can give you the best. When we read further we will also see that Isaac prayed also in form of meditation (Genesis 24:63).

Parents must be like Abraham, they must teach and pray for their children to marry only in the will of God. Who you marry will determine how far you can go in life. Therefore, pray before you chose and allow God to choose for you.

REFLECTION

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV

Trust God to make the best choice of marriage for you. You may be wrong, but God is always right. Therefore, you must pray before you chose.

PRAYER

Father, Please help me to trust You and accept Your choice for my life.
