MESSAGE
Rehoboth means an end has come to fruitless labour. For a man who has been labouring and not getting results, at Rehoboth end comes to such labour and he begins to experience fruitfulness in the land.
Before Isaac got to his Rehoboth, he had dug two wells but could not settle down because the people fought over them. It must have been a discouraging series for him. He was working and other men were claiming it until God brought him to the place of rest.
Many are struggling today in their career, business, and ministry because they have not come to their Rehoboth. Oppositions may be coming from all directions, don’t give up beloved, you will soon get to your Rehoboth.
Let us quickly draw two lessons from this experience Isaac had. First, Isaac ensure that there was peace between him and the Philistines. Every time his servants dig a well and the Philistine come and quarrels, Isaac will just leave it for them and go to another place.
His servant must have been complaining and saying why don’t we retaliate, but Isaac followed peace with all men (Hebrews 12:14). As believers, we must also learn to live at peace with others. Even when we are wronged by men, we must allow God to fight for us.
The second lesson we must draw is the persistence of Isaac. He never quit, he kept on going and digging. Believers today are lightweight, they quit easily. This is not the nature of Christ. Our trials may be long but it is to make us perfect (1 Peter 1:7). Until you get to your Rehoboth, you must keep digging.
Are you labouring for souls and it seems as if the harvest is not coming? Keep labouring, it will come. Are you praying about a matter and it is getting tighter, don’t give up, you will soon get to your Rehoboth. We must be strong in the Lord and His mighty power. God will make room for us and we shall be fruitful in every of our life’s endeavours.
Sincerely I am persuaded that until a man comes to his Rehoboth he may not have rest and enjoy divine fruitfulness. At Rehoboth Isaac said, God has made room for us and we shall be fruitful in the land. After Rehoboth, he made progress to Beersheba and then He had an encounter with God.
Sinners will never come to Rehoboth because there is no peace for the wicked says God (Isaiah 57:21). Those who are under the heavy load of sin must seek Jesus today and He will give them rest.
REFLECTION
No matter your previous disappointments and failures, keep doing good, very soon you will come to your Rehoboth.
PRAYER
Father, please bring me to my Rehoboth.
