MESSAGE
An untamed appetite or desire will eventually tame a man and put such in deep sorrow. It is natural to desire certain things in life, but if you notice that there is something that has taken hold of you and you cannot control, quickly ask the Lord to break it for you.
Some chapters before our reading of the day, Esau sold his birthright, for him, it was an uncontrolled appetite for food that made him ruin his life. Other men like Ruben have gone to waste their destinies because of a brief moment of sexual pleasure (Genesis 49:3-4).
Today young men and women even in the church live carelessly in fornication and other immoral lifestyles. What they don’t know is that they are sowing an evil seed for their future. A day is coming when they would cry – this is not in hell but on earth because of what the enemy has stolen from their lives in the process.
Are you doing business and you always cheating others, or you are part of the people who always falsify figures in your workplace. The reward is coming soon. Don’t be deceived, God cannot be mocked, whatsoever you sow, that you will reap also (Galatians 6:7).
Esau came back from the field hoping to go receive a blessing from his father but he ended up in tears. The horrible flashes of him selling his birthright must have rushed through his mind. Regrets filled his eyes but the deed is done.
The believer must be warned, don’t be distracted. The fact that sinners are having good times today does not mean that there will be no day of reckoning. Do not envy sinners and evildoers. Stay with God, your miracle will come.
No matter how hard life may be, do not compromise your faith in God. God will not forget your labour of love. Apart from the earthly reward, compromisers tend to lose the eternal reward that God had prepared for His people.
REFLECTION
“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.

Every desire that can lead you to hell must be taken to the cross today. They must be nailed to the cross today else they may end up ruining your life. You cannot afford to end your life in eternal ruins and sorrows.
PRAYER
Father, please help me to crucify every sinful desire in my life today.
