MESSAGE
Along with the great commission comes one of the greatest promises Christ ever made to His disciples. He told them He will be with them always even unto the end of the age.
This is very comforting to know that our saviour will keep and care for us in all the hustle and bustle of this world. Whether in tribulations or distress, or famine, or persecution, there is a promise of His overwhelming presence that comes in the form of peace which passed all human understanding.
Our Lord knows that the world will come with its load of challenges, but he is not going to leave us alone. He told the foremost disciples that He will not leave them alone as orphans but that He will pray to the Father to send them the comforter who will be with them and guide them (John 14:16-18).
This promised comforter is Christ’s promise to every believer, but to the soul winners, it was an assurance of His ever-abiding presence. I want nothing more than the presence of God in my life, I want to see and know more of Him. Paul a great soul-winner had a similar desire to know Him and the power of His resurrection (Philippians 3:10)
Christ knew that many of these soul winners will be persecuted, He told the apostle that many of them will be put in prison for their faith, and they’d be beaten and ill-spoken of by enemies of the gospel (Matthew 10:18-19). But in it all, He said, “I am with you always”.
This particular promise brought to mind the numerous occasions the Lord rescued His Apostles from dangerous situations. Paul the Apostle on His prisoner transfer to Rome had an Angel of the Lord stand by him and assured him of safety in a very hopeless situation (Read Acts 27).
When Peter was shut up in the prison, the Lord sent His angel to rescue him. The Lord has shown His commitment to this great promise over and over again, even in our times.
One great assurance I have this morning is of His presence in my life. That He will be with me always – praise God for the opportunity to be a part of this great commission. I rejoice because Jesus is with every faithful missionary, pastor, evangelist, and gospel worker. In their hardest trial, I know He would supply the grace and necessary strength needed to stand.
Now that you know that with the great commission comes a personal commitment of Christ to those who obey this command. Will you continue to ignore it and miss out on the promise of Christ to be with you always?
REFLECTION
In every situation, Jesus will be with His servants whose priority is to share the message of salvation to all creature. He is still committed to this great promise.
PRAYER
