MESSAGE

Today’s message is a warning to us all never to tread the path of dishonouring God for any reason. Do not allow God to become your enemy.

The way of the transgressors is hard (Proverbs 13:15). I am fully persuaded that it is the most dangerous thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Hebrew 10:31). If a man offends another person stronger and more powerful than himself, he can ask God to help him solve the problem, but what happens if a man offends God? Who will plead with God for him?

If God is for us, who can be against us, but what if God is against a man, who can be for him?

In our reading of the day, We saw God’s judgment pronounced upon the house of Eli. Though God had promised to give him and His house the office of the priest in all generations. But now God is saying, far be it from me, I am revoking my promise.

Eli did not only lose God’s covenant blessing but also brought divine judgment to his house.

This was the consequence of his dishonouring God. Eli honoured his children above God. He ruined that covenant and another took his place. Parents must be careful not to indulge their children. Correct, scold, instruct, and discipline them. You are answerable to God over your children.

The truth is that no man is indispensable in the hands of God. The condition to remain relevant in God’s hands is to honour Him. As long you continue to honour God, He will in turn shower you with honour.

God does not only deserve the first place in our hearts but the only place. We must not allow our affection for our spouse, children, and family to rob us of the reverence we have for Him.

Those who dishonour God will be esteemed lightly. This means that God will bring such to the ground. No matter how high you may be placed in life, you must always honour God to stay at the top.

Eli lost everything including the children he honoured above God. Don’t go down the path of dishonouring God. You will not be able to bear its consequences.

REFLECTION

I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me.

Proverbs 8:17 NKJV

Those who love God will honour Him and He will in turn Honour them. Seek to honour God with all your heart from today.

PRAYER

Father, please help to seek you always with all my heart and never to dishonour You.
