MESSAGE
Life is a battle, and more than any other, the Christian is faced with more battles. The devil, the corrupt world system, and false brethren, all set themselves against this child of God. No wonder the Bible told believers to always put on the full armour of God. That is to say, hey you are in a war, get ready for a fight.
The Bible even says that we don’t wrestle against flesh and blood and that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
II Corinthians 10:4-5 NKJV
The truth is that we have victory. Our victory was secured two thousand years ago when Jesus laid His life on the cross, but we must constantly walk in it. This requires that we live our lives in the will and purpose of God. As long as we do this, safety is sure.
One lesson every child of God must learn is that any time sin is found there is always defeat. The children of Israel are parallel to us new testaments saints because they were God’s people. As long as they live the way God wanted to live, they surely enjoy his favour.
In our text and reading of the day, we saw the children of Israel fall before their enemies. Previously they had conquered a bigger and mightier enemy through the help of God but were defeated by the little country of AI.
Sin brought God’s people to defeat. They fled before their enemies. Any Christian that plays with sin must be ready for defeat. Such will be lawfully handling himself over to the devil for affliction. Even though God has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, tampering with sin will put us back into bondage.
If you will continue to enjoy the victory that Christ won for you, then you must stay off sin or even its appearance. God’s will for us is to continue live victorious in our jobs, homes and society.
To live in sin as a believer itself is a sign of defeat in our spiritual life. Aim for victory over sin and you will be victorious in every aspect of your life.
REFLECTION
Beloved, stay away from sin, or else it will ruin you and plunge you into everlasting defeat.
