But it happened about this time, when Joseph went into the house to do his work, and none of the men of the house was inside, that she caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me.” But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside.

MESSAGE

Our response to temptation will determine whether we will overcome or be defeated. There are some temptations that you can just rebuke the devil. One such occasion occurred when the devil asked that the Lord bow and worship him – the Lord said, get out of here satan, you shall worship the Lord your God and Him only shall you serve. The devil ran away (Matthew 4:8-11)

When it comes to sexual temptations, you don’t start casting and binding the devil, you must simply flee. It is not even the time to start quoting scriptures. The Bible is very clear about this, FLEE. In 1 Corinthians 6:18, scripture says, Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.

To further show us how serious this matter is, Paul in his admonition told the young Timothy to flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
II Timothy 2:22 NKJV

Beloved, don’t think that you are some super Christian, God knows that we are still flesh and blood, so follow the counsel of the Holy Spirit to flee when you find yourself in any sexually tempting situation. If you don’t, you will fall. The Bible also warns us who think that we stand to take heed lest we fall.

In our text and reading of the day, Joseph knew that his destiny was worth more than a few moments of pleasure, so he flee. He was not trying to negotiate or talk his way through, he ran out naked. It is better to be naked for righteousness, rather than for sin to expose your nakedness.

As a young Christian, be intentional about sexual purity. You must let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
I Timothy 4:12 NKJV
Flee pornographic content, and make a covenant with your eyes not to look at any man or woman with lust.

Young man, young lady, learn from Joseph. Your destiny is worth more than a few minutes of carnal pleasure. Don’t be like Reuben who because of sexual sin lost his blessing and inheritance. Also, be careful what you watch on your devices. Don’t let anyone deceive you that you can be mature to handle sexual content on the internet. Your response always must be to flee.

One of the devil’s deceptions is to convince married Christians that they can watch pornography in their marriage, don’t fall for it, Flee. Don’t open the door of your home to the spirit of sexual perversion, guard not only the door of your home but of your heart from this satanic intrusion.

The devil is out there in these final days to bring the saints of God down, and one of his strongest weapons is sexual sin, so I plead with you to flee and always cover yourself with the precious blood of Jesus.

REFLECTION

Abstain from every form of evil.

1 Thessalonians 5:22 NKJV

Any time you find you find yourself in any position whereby you can be sexually compromised, Flee! Don’t wait or try to talk yourself out of it. You can explain later, but the first rule is to flee.

PRAYER

Father, please deliver me from evil plots of the devil to ensnare me in any form of sexual sin.
