MESSAGE
The Psalmist in our text of the day began with a language that will easily resonate with many of us. It was a Psalms of reflection upon God’s love, mercy, care, and safety over His children.
David further spoke of the countless attempts by the enemies to destroy him but for God’s divine protection. This is more like a Psalm of a man’s testimony. And it is rightly a psalm describing the goodness of God over your life.
God has done a lot for us and if not for the Lord who was on our sides, our enemies would have swallowed us up quick, and their wrath would have kindled against us and consumed us. If not for the Lord who was on your side, the story would have been different.
Had the Lord not stepped in when sickness came in, what would you be saying today? If the Lord had not been on your side when you went into the labour room, your story would have been different for the worse. Think about that accident that could have claimed your life, had the Lord not taken the wheel.
If you look closely at your life, you will see many occasions where if it was not for the Lord’s intervention, you would have been lost and destroyed. Many of us would have fallen into sin and backslide but for God’s timely help. Thank God we have such assurance that God is in our midst and will help us right early (Psalms 46:5).
Take time to enumerate some of those instances of God’s timely help in your life and begin to thank the Lord such as David did. Think about those times when the help of men failed and there is no other to help but God and praise the almighty God. In verse 6 David expressed such gratitude to God. Blessed be the Lord, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
Psalms 124:6 NKJV
Oh, bless the Lord dear saint for all His help.
REFLECTION
If not for God, the enemy would have won the battle over your life and your story would have ended. Count your blessings and give glory to God who has saved you on those occasions.
PRAYER
Father, thank you for fighting all my battles for me. Praise the Lord.
