We acknowledge, O Lord, our wickedness And the iniquity of our fathers, For we have sinned against You.

Jeremiah 14:20 NKJV

MESSAGE

We know that God’s will is for men to be saved from sin and be translated into God’s kingdom but man must do his part to receive the blessing of salvation. In this series titled “Path To Salvation”, we will be looking at the steps a man would need to take to be saved or reconciled back to God.

Today, we will study the importance of acknowledgement to salvation. To acknowledge one’s sin is to simply agree with God. The sinner must agree that he has broken the rules and deserves punishment. He must also agree that he needs the mercy of God.

Think about how difficult it is trying to help persons who do not think they need help. Even if you try, they may end up kicking back at your face. But anyone who will truly be saved or forgiven must acknowledge their sins.

If a man does not acknowledge his sins, God said in Hosea 5:15, that He will abandon Ephraim and Judah except if they acknowledge their offence and seek His face.

Whenever you hear a message or the word of God comes to you, instead of trying to explain it away, face the situation and ask God to show you mercy. Do you know why God was always merciful to David? It is because David always acknowledges his faults. In Ps 51:3, he said, I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me.
Psalms 51:3 NKJV

Any man or woman who will receive mercy from the Lord must be willing to agree with God. In Jeremiah 3:13, God said again, Only acknowledge your iniquity, That you have transgressed against the Lord your God, And have scattered your charms To alien deities under every green tree, And you have not obeyed My voice,’ says the Lord.
Jeremiah 3:13 NKJV

For how long will you keep your sin, He is willing to forgive you if only you will acknowledge your fault and let Him clean you up. Allow God to search your heart today and see if there is any sin within, and talk to God about it. God will forgive and give you a new life if only you will cry out for mercy.

REFLECTION

I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah

Psalms 32:5 NKJV

Let no one deceive you, a person cannot confess or repent of a sin he has not acknowledged. So I urge you today to agree with God and He will show you His mercy.

PRAYER

Father, please help to always and quickly acknowledge my fault to you and to men whenever I go astray.
