MESSAGE

Does it truly pay to follow Jesus? What do you tend to gain by following Him wholeheartedly?
If you are asking God these questions, you are not the first nor would you be the last. Great men like Abraham has asked God similar question.

In Genesis 15 verse 2, the Bible recorded that Abraham asked God, “Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?”

The truth about humans is that we want assurance, and you can see in our text of the day Peter asking the Lord for a similar assurance. It was like he was saying to Jesus, what do we gain for following you since we have left all?

Thank God He has not called us to seek Him in vain. Here is this beautiful assurance from God: “I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.
Isaiah 45:19 KJV”

There are so many rewards for following the Lord. Both earthly and eternal rewards await those who faithfully serve the Lord.  According to Jesus, if you have left anything to follow Him, you will gain those things back in this life and ultimately heavenly reward.

No other reward can be compared with the eternal reward, and if that is all we get, it’s more than enough. But we are sure of even earthly blessings that come in form of other souls saved and material blessings.

Beloved, it pays to serve Jesus, and even if it looks like you are not getting those things you desire, it is a matter of time before the Lord begin to embarrass you with abundant rewards.

Keep serving the Lord and don’t ever get discouraged because you will soon experience showers of blessings.

REFLECTION

And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

Malachi 3:17 KJV

It pays to serve Jesus, I speak from my heart. You can never regret following Jesus because He is the rewarder of anyone who diligently seeks Him.

PRAYER

Father, please help me to keep following You and don’t let me miss both my earthly and eternal rewards of following and serving You.
