MESSAGE
Every time God ask us to do anything, we must understand that it is in our best interest. We must learn by principle and action to do those things which he approves and withdraw from those which He disapproves.
Anytime man goes against His commandments, that man is usually at the losing end. The story of Adam and Eve lays a proper template for everyone to learn. When God asked them not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, it was for their good, it was the only tree they had no access to, but they blew it and went for the fruit of that same tree.
The repercussion of that singular disobedience is still being felt by the world today. The Bible says that because of the disobedience of the first parents all men became subject to sin and ultimately faces the consequence of sin which is death.
Thank God however for His free gift of eternal life through the obedience of Jesus Christ (Romans 6:23). The key to a successful life in Christ is to obey every instruction God gives us.
When God was to begin with Joshua, He frankly told Him that the condition to succeeding in his new assignment is to obey every instruction in the book of the law (Joshua 1:8). The same applies to us and no one can truly succeed in walking with God without obedience to His commandment.
In the next lessons, we will be looking at some of those commandments and how they affect us directly. However, let us see one more instruction for us today from Psalms 119:9:
How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.
Psalms 119:9 NKJV
How obedient are you to His word? How much attention do you pay to His instructions? If you will go far with Him, then you must go far in obeying Him.
REFLECTION
Listen and follow His instructions no matter how difficult they may look, it will turn out for your good. Amen.
PRAYER
Father, please give me the grace to obey every one of your instructions for my life.
