Victory Over Sin 3

Text: Romans 6:16 KJV

Further Reading: Romans 6:16-23

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Romans 6:16 KJV

MESSAGE

Having laid a solid foundation showing you God’s desire for you to be victorious over sin, you must play your part to receive this blessing. Don’t forget that you are created with free will and nothing can override the human will. It is at this point we must work out our salvation with fear and trembling.

If we must continue to enjoy the victory that God promised in His words, we must begin to take the recommendations that He has given from His word. Our text and reading of the day showed us that we should be intentional about yielding our bodies unto obedience which gives righteousness.

The Bible says that you should put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds. Colossians 3:8‭-‬9 KJV

This putting off is your part to play. You must not return to places that can bundle you back into sin. You must be determined by God’s grace to mortify and put yourself under subjection. Consecrate your life to God and let His word guide you into His will.

In addition to these things, you must desire the fruits of the Spirit. Don’t run after the gifts, but the fruits. A man can have the gifts of the Spirit and go to hell but a man who possesses the fruits of the Spirit will be able to live a life above reproach and in the end, make heaven.

You must regularly engage yourself in new Christian activities like reading the word of God and praying. One final thing to take note of is to give yourself to prayer. A praying man will stop sinning and a sinning man stop praying.

Victory is sure but you must play your part.

REFLECTION

and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.

Let your mind be renewed by the word of God always.

PRAYER

Father, please renew your words in my heart.

Help me to fulfill your purpose on earth.
