MESSAGE
The human mind in its fallen nature is by default faulty. It possesses the power to bind a man in sin. Until the mind is renewed the person will keep struggling with sin and be defeated by sin.
Apart from being washed by the blood of Jesus at the new birth, the mind must be constantly renewed by the word of God. That’s why our text of the day says that transformation takes place when the mind is renewed. Until then a man will not know the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God for his life.
God places premium value upon His word. Faith comes by hearing of the word of God, and that word is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, so that become thoroughly furnished unto good works (Romans 10:17; 2 Timothy 3:16-17).
The word of God is therefore very important if you will live above sin. David says in Psalms 119:11 that, Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

This shows us how powerful the word of God is to bring us into a victorious Christian life. Stop trivializing God’s word. The Lord Jesus also prayed that we would be sanctified by the truth in God’s word (John 17:17).
The word of God is a purifier and it cleans a man from sin. In John 15:3, Jesus said, You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

The word of God is a sure anchor to victorious Christian living. It has the infinite capacity to confront sin in a believer’s life, and then filter out that sin.
Are you asking how you can be victorious over sin? A young man answered that question this way: How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.
Psalms 119:9 NKJV.
Victory over sin is possible if you will apply the word of God more to your life.
REFLECTION
Be renewed in the spirit of your mind.

The more you allow the word of God to renew your mind, the more victorious you will become over sin.
PRAYER
Father, please help me to renew my mind always through your word.
