MESSAGE

One sin that many believers find themselves falling into is sexual immortality. It is so common among the young and the old. The most common forms are sexual contact, pornography, and masturbation. These form a stronghold keeping many bound, even though God has promised them victory.

Sexual sin has brought down both the young and the old. Many great men like Samson and David suffered hard blows from it. Therefore beware and stay off it.

When it comes to sexual sin, it is not enough to have self-control or renewed mind. The believer must be practical in dealing with it. Today, we will be looking at a few practical steps to overcoming sexual sin.

The first thing to note is to be careful not to put yourself in sexually compromising positions. That innocent roof walk by David was enough to put him in danger. You can not afford to stay in secluded areas with the opposite sex who is not your marital partner.
Pastors and Christian counselors must avoid counseling the opposite gender in secluded places or behind closed doors alone. You must have people around or your spouse.

Another way to avoid being sexually compromised is to make a covenant with your eyes. Job said, “I made a solemn pact with myself never to undress a girl with my eyes Job 31:1‭ MSG. The eyes being a major gateway to the soul must guard. Don’t go poking around the internet looking at sexually explicit images and videos. You must be careful about the kind of movies you watch.

Don’t tell yourself that you are mature enough to handle pornographic content; you will be opening yourself to mainstream perversion and immorality.

Another important thing to do is to flee fornication. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. I Corinthians 6:18 NKJV

Learn from Joseph in our reading of the day. When he found himself in a dangerous place, he fled. When you find yourself in a place where you are looking sexually vulnerable, dear friends flee. Don’t pray, don’t quote scriptures, don’t explain yourself – just flee. Escape for your life and then come back to tell the story. May God give you wisdom. Amen.

Finally, you must trust the Holy Spirit to help you. Always commit yourself to His trust, and keep your ears open to His leading and instruction per time.

REFLECTION

Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

Colossians 3:5 NKJV

Beloved, don’t be overconfident, rather watch and pray. With the best of your might avoid sexual compromise. Pray also for those who are currently struggling with sexual sin that the Lord would grant them victory.

PRAYER

Father, please deliver every believer who is currently struggling with sexual sin, and please keep my feet from falling into sexual immorality.
