Value His Presence

Text: Psalms 23:6 AMPC

Further Reading: Psalms 23:1-6

Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.

Psalms 23:6 AMPC

MESSAGE

The presence of God is the availability of God to a man. It is when God decides to visit men in order to bless them. It was the presence of God that Adam enjoyed until sin came and everything turned upside down for humanity. Take away the presence of God from any man’s life, such becomes empty. Even if the fellow is a preacher, he will only be a shaved preacher.

One such man was Samson. While he carried the presence of God he was able to do great exploits for God, but immediately he began to play with sin, the presence of God left him and he became an entertainment to the enemies of God. Samson lost the presence of God, it was God Himself that He lost, and this led him to die with enemies.

Another man who once carried the presence of God but did not value it was king Saul. This was a man who admitted that he was not worthy to become the king, yet God chose him. When Saul turned his back on God by disobeying Him, the Bible recorded that the Spirit of God (the presence of God left him), and he became possessed by an evil spirit.

Anyone who does not value the presence of God is walking on a slippery path. This means that God will not be going with that fellow, and the result is that the individual will become prey to the devil. Only those who abide under the shadow of the Almighty will be preserved.

You wonder why David the servant of God was so conscious of God’s presence. He said in Psalms 84:10, that a day in God’s court is better than a thousand. This King would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of the Lord than dwell in the tenth with the wicked.

In his penitent Psalms, David cried to God never to cast him away from His presence, nor take His Holy Spirit from him. This was because sin had robbed David of the joy of his salvation (Psalms 51:11-12). This loss of joy was because of the loss of God’s presence. In Psalms 16:11, the Bible says: You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

When God is with you, value it. Don’t take His presence for granted. Flee from sin that drives God away and consistently seek more of His presence. May your life never be void of God’s presence. Amen.

His presence is life. If you have His presence with you, you can ride against the storms of life. You will be honored and enjoy great glory when you carry His presence.

PRAYER

Father, please make me a carrier of your presence from today. Let your presence bring me joy, honor, and great glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.
