MESSAGE
Through one man’s sin, the human race inherited curses, sicknesses, diseases, death, and eternal separation from God. That singular disobedience was enough to ruin the divine order that God planned for man. The Man from that point entered a lifelong cycle of struggles and pains.
Man needs a savior, the one who will save her from sin. He needs a redeemer to buy her out of the curse of the law. He needs a restorer who will restore a fine relationship with God. That restorer was promised in Genesis 3:15, the seed of the woman who will crush the head of the serpent.
Only God could make this happen, no man is righteous, no not one (Romans 3:10). None can fill these roles but God. That is why God became flesh and dwells among men. He became human so that we who have all our lifetime been subject to the fear of death and hell might be delivered.
Our text of the day showed us that Jesus’s mission is to save us from sin. A deliverance from the power of sin and reconciliation back to God. Jesus would have to literally become sin for us so that we can become righteous (2 Corinthians 5:21). He must suffer and die, so that we may be freed from the curse of the law. He must be raised from the dead so that we can have power over death.
Jesus fulfilled all these, He became succeeded everywhere Adam failed. He became obedient to God unto death, He willingly laid down His life for us, and by the resurrection power, He conquered death for us (1 Corinthians 15:22).
But without the birth of Christ, there would be neither death nor resurrection. The birth of Christ is the beginning of the work of our salvation. God indeed demonstrated His love to us that when we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. You must allow the essence of Christ’s birth to fully manifest in your life by allowing Christ in your heart. You must wholly surrender to Him and accept Him as the gift of God not to the world but to you.
REFLECTION
Jesus came to set captives free, to save the lost human race, and to restore us back to God. This work began with His birth, therefore, we mustn’t trivialize such a huge gift that God gave humanity by dishonoring Him even though we celebrate Christmas.
PRAYER
Father, may I not trivializw the work of Christ in my life and family.
