MESSAGE
The hardest thing for many people is to admit wrong. Naturally, they tend to want to make excuses and blame others for their failures. This is the natural tendency of man. One of the things that frustrate parents is the failure of their children to take responsibility for certain wrongs in their lives.
Similarly, God is not happy when His children refuse to take responsibility for their wrong actions. Consider Adam and Eve in our text and reading of the day, who will not admit their wrong but turned to the blame game.
You can learn that even though God is merciful and always willing to forgive when we wronged Him, He demands that we come without trying to cover up our sins. One sign of Christian maturity is the ability to accept responsibility for failures and ask God for mercy.
Taking responsibility is the fastest way to obtain mercy. David expressed that when he kept mute about his sins, he was in serious torment, but immediately he took responsibility for them, he was free from the guilt of sin ( Psalms 22).
In Psalm 51, the Bible says, For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned, And done this evil in Your sight— That You may be found just when You speak, And blameless when You judge.
Psalms 51:3-4 NKJV
You can never receive mercy from God if you will never admit and take responsibility for your wrong. The Bible says that God desires truth in the inward part and a broken and contrite heart He will not reject. Are you broken and sorry for that sin or are you still arrogantly making excuses for them?
If you will not remain under the wicked whip of condemnation, then you must be ready to take responsibility for your sins. Uncover those sins today and you will begin to succeed.
REFLECTION
When you take responsibility for your sins, God will see to it that you are rescued.
PRAYER
