Further Reading: Psalms 24:1-6

He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully.

Psalms 24:4 NKJV

MESSAGE

Beloved, your relationship with God will be defined by heart. The level of purity of your heart will determine your closeness to Him. Our God is infinitely holy and only holy men can access His divine realities and power.

That is why He has called every believer to share in holiness. The Bible says in 1 Peter 1:15-16 that because God is holy, we are called to follow after the same pattern of true holiness. Let no one deceive you, it is the will of God for you to be holy and godly.

This attribute is however breed in the heart. You see, if the outward show of holiness of man is not a product of inward holiness, it is merely self-imposed humility which has a reward. Men may accept it and even commend it but heaven will say No!

This can be seen in 1 Samuel 16 when God was going to anoint a king in the house of Jesse. Though Eliab and the brothers were outwardly clean or holy because of the ceremonial ritual they had gone through, God rejected them because they were unclean at heart.

Here was what God told the prophet: But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” I Samuel 16:7 NKJV

What is the condition of your heart Christian? Do you not wear nice clothes to cover a bad heart? Do you not say nice words and your heart is deformed by impurities, malice, hatred, strife, and other works of the flesh?

In our text of the day, the Bible says that only those whose hands and hearts are clean can come close to His holy mountain. If you will truly touch divine realities in God, then you must see to it that you ask God to wash your heart with His blood.

Unfortunately, many so-called Christians are feeding their hearts and minds with impure content on the internet, thereby cutting off the flow of God’s power in their lives. Such believers must desist from such acts with a repentant heart and pursue after godly and spiritually edifying contents.

Are you aware that if you will do more for God in partnership with God you must have a pure heart? Let it be clear to you today that God wants to walk with you but you must also walk before Him with a pure heart. Ask God to cleanse your heart today with His blood.

REFLECTION

Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill? He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart.

Psalms 15:1-2 NKJV

Those who speak the truth in their hearts and do not live in deception will be able to walk with God and possess His fullness.

PRAYER

Father, please guard my heart with your truth. Help me live above sin at all times.
