Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk.

MESSAGE

While Jesus was teaching His disciples about prayer in Matthew 6, He told them to pray to God in secret, that God who sees in the secret will reward openly. This is the same with our hearts when praying. Somethings we say something in our heart, and because God sees the sincerity of our heart He grants us that petition.

The Bible says in Psalm 139:2 that God knows our thought far off. This means that because He knows the needs of your heart, He can also grant you your heart’s desire. The Bible says in Psalms 37:4 that when you delight yourself in the Lord, He will give you the desires of your heart.

God knows your desire, He knows your needs,  and He will grant them. The story in our text of the day shows us that God can see answer the prayer we pray from the heart. Hanah prayed with her heart but only her lips moved. God saw the anguish of her soul and answered her prayers.

Are there prayer requests that fill your heart and you have no way of uttering them? Don’t worry, as long as they are God’s will, you will certainly have them. God is not only committed to hearing your prayer but also assisting you in praying.

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Romans 8:26 NKJV

The only stumbling block to God hearing a prayer prayed from the heart is if one regards sin or iniquity in the heart (Psalms 66:18). Therefore, check your heart and allow God to search you. Ask Him to wash you clean in the Blood of Jesus.

God hears all prayers, even the ones we prayed in our hearts.

REFLECTION

“But before I had finished speaking in my heart, there was Rebekah, coming out with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down to the well and drew water. And I said to her, ‘Please let me drink.’

Genesis 24:45 NKJV

God knows all your silent prayers, and He will answer them all. Just hold on to God and keep trusting Him.

PRAYER

Father, please hear the cries of my heart today.
