MESSAGE
The most precious stones are not gotten on the surface. Great things are not achieved on a platter of gold. So also is your personal walk with Christ in every area of life. In this first part, we will be looking at digging a spiritual well until there is an overflow.
So many Christians want to attain high spiritual stature but they are content with the so-called tapping of grace from other men. Such persons will never be able to reach their full spiritual potential. There must be thirst and hunger or else there will be no supply.
Jesus said, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
John 7:37-38 NKJV. The potential to dispense the rivers of living water is within you, but you must come with great thirst. Thirsty men will do anything for water, they will keep digging until they reach the water.
Are you digging your spiritual well? Are you digging in the place of prayer? Are you building up your most holy faith by consistently praying in the Holy Ghost (Jude 1:20)? The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 that you must pray without ceasing. Also in Ephesians 6:18, we are charged to pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.
How far are you digging in the place of prayer, dear friend? Are you just scraping the surface with the Lord’s prayer or you are agonizing like Elijah who the Bible called a man like us? If you will get the result of Elijah, then you must do the digging of Elijah in the place of prayer.
The Bible recorded Elijah’s exemplary prayer life this way, Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.
James 5:17-18 NKJV.
Beloved, this kind of prayer means to keep praying in our prayers. This kind of prayer is not what you do today and stop for a week. This is an elastic prayer that has now formed a life because Elijah kept on digging. How far are you digging? God is still willing to bring down fire, He is still willing to confront all the false prophets in our time and bring revival, only if He can find an Elijah in you and me to dig in the place of prayer.
How far are you digging?
REFLECTION
How hungry and thirsty are you for a deeper prayer life? Keep digging!
PRAYER
Father, I receive the strength required to keep digging until I come into a supernatural prayer life.
