Text: Exodus 33:13 NKJV

Further Reading: Exodus 33:12-23

Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.”

Exodus 33:13 NKJV

MESSAGE

Since prayer changes things and prayer changes people, prayer then must be the utmost priority in any man’s life. You must dig or in layman’s terms keep praying until you become a man of prayer.

There is a popular acronym often associated with prayer. PUSH – means pray until something happens, but I will like to say, pray until you become a man or woman of prayer. It is not enough to pray until something happens, you can take it to the dimension of decree just like Elijah did.

In 1 Kings 17:1, that prophet of old simply said, there will be no rain, not dew according to my word. But wait a minute, he said before God whom I stand, this man stood before the king praying. He spent the next 3 1/2 years praying. No wonder with another short prayer he called fire down.

Has God changed? Can He not do it again? Yes, He can, but He is looking for a man who will keep digging in the place of prayer. The man Moses as we read in our text of the day was a man of prayer. He was the man who stood before God to sway the sword of judgment and obtain mercy on behalf of the children of Israel.

That man spent a combined 80 days and nights before the Lord such that his face radiated the glory of God. He kept on digging until he touched divine things in the place of prayer. If you also keep digging, heaven is nearer to you than ever before.

If you will wrestle in the place of prayer like Jacob, you will get a name change. Let no man tell you that you can live a successful Christian life on a lackluster prayer life. You are planning for a series of defeats in life.

You must soak yourself in the place of prayer until your life is incubated by prayer. Keep digging friend, you will soon hit the gold.

REFLECTION

Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.

James 5:17-18 NKJV

Ask God for the grace to pray, and tell Him to pour on you the Spirit of grace and supplication (Zechariah 12:10).

PRAYER

Father, please pour upon me the Spirit of prayer.
