When You Pray 2

Text: Matthew 6:7 NKJV

Further Reading: Matthew 6:7-8

And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.

Matthew 6:7 NKJV

MESSAGE

God knows your need and He is committed to supplying them. The Bible says that we can be confident that God who has began a good work in us will accomplish. Paul while praying through the Holy Spirit for the Church at Phillipi prayed thus:

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 NKJV

Our God is alive! He is not like poor miserable idol like baal. In 1 Kings 18, the Bible showed the uselessness of idols.

And so it was, at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, “Cry aloud, for he is a god; either he is meditating, or he is busy, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened.” So they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them. And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention.
I Kings 18:27‭-‬29 NKJV

The Bible above showed how dumb those idols are like. But we serve a God who knows our needs ahead of time. We don’t have to cut ourselves to get answer. We can talk as innocently with our maker as one talking to his friend.

Note that God does not also hear us because of our repititions but because of His glory. It is the glory of God to answer prayer, therefore God is always pleased to hear us when we call on Him. You can count on our God’s faithfulness never to fail in hearing because He is the one who says,

Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”
Psalms 50:15 NKJV

God will always hear His children who prays, He is inviting you to pray and He will hear. How often are you praying? Don’t pray like the heathen but like a child.

REFLECTION

He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.

Psalms 91:15 NKJV

God’s promise is to answer when you pray, how often do you pray? Do you pray in simple manner or you think God will hear you only if you inflict injury on yourself? The latter is not the way our God works, because He desires to answer prayers anyway, therefore prayers said in a child-like faith is colored more by Him.

PRAYER

Father, please help to always pray with a child-like faith that never fail to receive from You.
