MESSAGE

Mercy is an act of forbearance from God to judge a sinful people. The Bible says God is slow to anger and plenteous in Mercy. This means that God looks at we human through the lense of mercy. To prove this, the Bible says that God dish out new mercy every morning.

Mercy is God’s personality. The Bible says, And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth. Exodus 34:6 NKJV

The truth is that no one can survive outside the mercy of God. Mercy is therefore inevitable for anyone who will continue to live.
Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22‭-‬23 NKJV

Knowing that mercy is essential for our survival, we must know what Jesus said about this subject. In our text and reading of the day, the Bible told us the story of the unmerciful servant who will not show mercy to his fellow servant even when he had received higher mercy.

God’s intention us who have received mercy is to be merciful. Remember, God forgave and had mercy upon you and gave you a new identify. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. I Peter 1:3 NKJV

The word of God further said that we were once not a people of God but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. I Peter 2:10 NKJV

Jesus also taught that those who need mercy must acknowledge their need for it. They busy be like the publican who cried out for mercy and was justified instead of wearing the cloak of self-righteousness and be condemned (Like 18:10-14).

Friend, you must therefore not cover your sin but rather expose it to God so that God can show you mercy. The scripture says that those who lived in secrete and covered sin will never succeed but whosoever confesses and for sakes his sin will obtain mercy (Proverbs 28:13).

Are you in need of mercy, ask God today with an open and repentant heart and you will find mercy.
