But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

MESSAGE

Only God rightly deserves our worship and to be worshipped. This is true because as the Psalmist says, we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. To show you how important is to worship God, the first law was that man should worship God and no other god. Jesus in His defense against the attempted sabotage of the devil said,

“Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ” Matthew 4:10 NKJV.

Today we see many worships other things like money, fame, and idols, instead of the living God, such worship is an abomination to God. The Christian knows God through Christ is the only worthy of praise and worship.

In our text and reading, we saw Jesus speak about people worshipping God the wrong way. Those who attempt to worship God apart from Christ can not simply do so. This is because no one can access the Father except through the Lord Jesus (John 14:6).

Until a man has been saved and born again, such can not worship God in spirit and truth.  Until that transformation takes place, that fellow will only be drawing toward God with their mouth and not out of their heart. The Lord called such worship vain and unacceptable (Matthew 15:8-9).

Have you been changed by giving your life to Jesus? Are you constantly being renewed by God’s word daily? Are you not just performing empty rituals instead of worship? You can only worship God effectively if you have turned away from your sin to Christ.

Those who have been born of God have the right to be called God’s children. Hence such can offer acceptable worship to God. If you have not decided for Christ, you should do that today. Stop praying religion and ask Jesus to take the only place in your life.

God is waiting for you to make that decision now. Those who are already God’s children must let go of every hidden work of sin and purge themselves through the sanctifying word of God to be able to offer acceptable worship to God.

REFLECTION

Then the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever.

Revelation 5:14 NKJV

If you don’t worship God, trees will, other creatures will. The best thing is to devote some time to worship God truthfully and not as a matter of religious duty.

PRAYER

Father, I receive the grace and strenght to be an ardent worshipper.
