MESSAGE
Love is beautiful and desirable especially when two people come together with mutual openess, eagerness, and passion to be with each other. Although this kind of love may be selfish and not pure, it is still usually strong. Only God’s love, I.e the Agape love is unconditional and strong. When you were saved, God brought you into a love relationship with Him.
He was the one who made the first proposal, He offered you life instead of death, he offered you blessing instead of curses, He also offered to be with you the end of life. These assuring words are indeed true because God always keep His word.
When the Christain acceptsGod’s love, he goes all the way for God. He goes about sharing good things about Jesus that he has experienced. He loves to spend time with God in prayer and constantly study and meditate on the word of God.
God is dear to Him, he will not allow anything come in between him and his savior. Jesus has won his heart and he is greatly in love with Christ. Does this look like your experience? What about now?
If you are still very much in love with Jesus, I say keep it up. But in many cases, the fire of our love begins to go out because the enemy of our souls begins to introduce other things to distract us. The devil can even use material needs or emotional need to attempt separating us from Jesus.
Think about Peter, after Jesus died, all his claim to have loved Jesus seem to die also. Peter went back to fishing. Jesus had to come back to Peter to know if he truly loved Him (John 21:1-18). That job of yours, your possession, and other things can be a distraction. Do not allow them get into your mind.
If you use to be active in church but now your big banking job is now taken all your attention, you must return back to Jesus who was your first love before you got that job.
Our text of the day is from Jesus to you. Return back to what you used to do when you loved Jesus in your heart. Although, the primary need is to get back to Jesus if you have lost touch with Christ. Remember where you have fallen and please rise again.
REFLECTION
Jesus is calling you to return today, His arms are still opened, He is waiting to receive you if only you will return to Him.
PRAYER
Father, please forgive me for leaving to seek satisfaction and pleasure in other things. Please restore back to you in Jesus’ name. Amen.
