MESSAGE
In a world and generation full of distraction and many distracted folks, the soldier of Christ has a huge responsibility to be sober. He must always maintain a clear head and mind. Believers can not be drunken with worldly pleasure and amusement of this present age.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:6, the Bible says we can not sleep as others do, but we should be sober and watchful. You can not afford to be addicted and chained down by social media, movies, and the like.
The Bible warned expressly that you must be sober and alert because satan is roaming about, roaring like a lion. You must resist the enemy by standing firm in the faith (1 Peter 5:8-9).
One of the ways to prove that you are saved is sobriety. Titus 2:11-12 mentioned some other things we received through the saving grace of Christ. This scripture says we must live soberly in this world. We must say no to worldly power and possession which can easily draw a man away.
But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.
I Thessalonians 5:8 NKJV
Finally, because the end of all things is at hand, every soldier of Christ must pay attention to this word of God:
But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.
I Peter 4:7 NKJV
REFLECTION
You must learn to keep your decency, calmness, and cool-headedness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. Do not get involved with the things of this world that can get you off course.
PRAYER
Father, please help me to be sober always. Amen.
