MESSAGE
The word of God is the greatest offensive weapon of warfare that the soldier of Christ must always take up. It is also an internal corrective influence that keeps the soldier from self-poisoning. David says because he hides the word of God in his heart, it is impossible to be poisoned by sin and be vulnerable to the enemy’s attack (Psalms 119:11).
The same word of God serves as a corrective, instructive, and doctrinal asset to the soldier of Christ. By this, the soldier is well-guided and instructed in his pursuit of victory over the enemy (2 Timothy 3:16).
This weapon is quick and powerful. It is sharper than any two-edged sword because it does more than a sword can do. You see, a sword can pierce the skin and the body part, but it can not discern what is in man’s heart. The word of God however can do much more. The word also serves as a searchlight so that nothing is hidden from the soldier of Christ (Hebrews 4:12).
The word turns into light to brighten the path of the believer. If you don’t want to walk in darkness then you must have the word of God in you. The weapon of God’s word can be trusted it has been tried seven times in the furnace and found to be effective (Psalms 12:6-7).
Any time you have a major challenge to confront, go with the sword of the Spirit. Unfortunately, many soldiers go to battle with excuses rather than their swords. They would rather murmur and complain instead of firing the word of God at the enemy.
We must learn from our captain to use the sword of the Spirit. Jesus won the Battle against the enemy through the word of God. Also, your victory as a soldier of Christ lies in attacking the enemy with the word of God. After all, the Bible says that God honors His word and not one word that He speaks will fall to the ground.
You must master the art of winning spiritual battles through the word of God. Don’t go about speaking empty confessions without the word.
REFLECTION
The word of the Lord is proven and it will shield you from the enemy’s attack. Take God’s word seriously and victory will be yours.
PRAYER
Father, please help me to value your word and apply it in my warfare against the enemy.
