MESSAGE
After the fall of man, God was in search of men and women with whom He can commune and share the deep things of His heart. Even though God will do nothing without revealing it to His servant the prophets, God is in search of a friend. A man with whom God can commune intimately.
In every generation, God has made this search and He had found great friends in ordinary mortal beings like us. The search is still on today in our generation, God in search of friends. In our text of the day, the Lord told the Disciples that He does not consider them servants but friends. This also is the mind of God. The Father is looking for someone with whom He can share deep things on the friendship level.
If you think this is not possible follow some ig the examples that Holy Spirit will be highlighting to us today. Consider the man Enoch, a man who the Bible recorded that h walked with God. It is not enough for a man to walk with God but for God to walk with him as in the case of Enoch until the point that God had to transition him into glory (Genesis 5:24).
Another man who earn God’s friendship was Abraham. A man who God will not hide His heavenly agenda from. God trusted Abraham because of Abraham’s complete trust in God. In Isaiah 41:8, God said, Abraham was His friend. Study the life of Abraham again and you will notice that men with whom God had great relationships are all men of faith.
Moses was another friend of God. Moses had such an intimate relationship with God so much that God said:
I speak with him face to face, Even plainly, and not in dark sayings; And he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant Moses?”
Numbers 12:8 NKJV
Today, many Christians are more concerned about working for God whereas He is looking for deep relationships. God values a personal relationship with Him above service. It is until we have deep intimacy that we can serve God effectively. Otherwise, we will be offering dead and unacceptable service unto God.
Do you desire a friendship with God? You can start by giving your heart and life to Jesus. You must then like Paul cry with great passion:
“that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.”
Philippians 3:10 NKJV
