MESSAGE
As the world continues to spiral into decay, apostasy, and highly-scaled antichrist sentiment and rhetoric, the body of Christ is unfortunately short of true shepherds who will guide the people in the ways of the Lord. There is a desperate search for more faithful shepherds who will lead God’s people in the right way and feed them with both physical and spiritual manna.
Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.
Jeremiah 12:10 KJV
As the Lord puts it, many so-called shepherds are mere hirelings. They do the job for the gain that they will acquire. Such men do not care for the sheep but for themselves. They are the people who place money above salvation, indulgence above holiness, and so on (John 10:12-13).
In our text and reading of the day, the Bible told us the story of Eli who was once a true shepherd but later backslid. Eli lost everything that could have been for his family forever because he was more concerned about himself and his children. While this was going on, God began to search for a faithful priest who will replace the old Eli.
God is in search of a comforter who will apply balm to the wounded sheep.
And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
Jeremiah 3:15 KJV
Are you such a shepherd like David that heaven is looking for to bring hope to the scattered flocks of the Lord? Or have you backslid like Eli and now God’s people are scattered and lost? Repent today and ask God to prepare you a sanctuary for His use in our generation. This is the time to examine yourself.
REFLECTION
Christian leaders must learn to be faithful and lead God’s people right. The failure of many however has made God to be on search of better replacements, will you avail yourself?
PRAYER
Father, please count me among those who you will use for your glory in my generation. Please help to stay relevant in your service till the end of my life. Amen
