MESSAGE
One of the biggest quarrels the Pharisees and other religious leaders had with Jesus in His life was His association with sinners. They considered it a thing of contempt that Christ would have anything to do with sinners.
The Bible in our text of the day says that Jesus has come into the world to seek and save the lost. That is why Jesus could go into the house of a very popular sinner like Zacchaeus. Who would imagine that a person like Zacchaeus could be saved? Thanks be to Jesus who goes about to seek the lost.
Jesus is the friend of sinners. No person is too bad for Him. No life is too broken for Him. No human soul is too messy to be fixed up by Him. Unfortunately many are not coming to Jesus, they prefer to hide until sin ruins them.
The truth is that no one ever comes to Christ and the fellow is rejected. Jesus said, All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. John 6:37 NKJV
In Luke 15, the Bible spoke about the story of a prodigal son and a loving God. It is the nature of God to receive those who repent of their sins. Though the prodigal son had wasted all his wealth, his father received him back to himself.
He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.
Proverbs 28:13 NKJV
The only time a person loses out on God’s invitation is when that individual decided not to repent but continues to live carelessly.
Otherwise, there is mercy had pardon for those who come to God.
Jesus still saves, are you willing to accept His offering? His blood still cleanses from all sin if only you will repent and pray like the publican, “Lord have mercy on me a sinner”.
REFLECTION
Christ is giving you an invitation to come just as you are. Whether you are a sinner or a backslider, you need to get right with God today.
PRAYER
Father, please save me and deliver me from the powers of sin. Help me to live above sin and other distractions of life.
