MESSAGE

One of the hindrances to going higher is pride. The Bible says that pride comes before the fall. What this means is that anyone who will go higher must live a life of humility. The Bible says that when a man humbles himself before the Lord, he will be lifted up (1 Peter 5:6).

To fully understand how humility can take a man up, you must consider the life of Jesus. Though He was the Son of God, He humbled Himself to the lowest point. Because of His humility, the Bible says:

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
Philippians 2:9‭-‬10 NKJV

Jesus became so exalted that He claimed that all the power in heaven and earth belongs to Him (Matthew 28:18). This height came at the cost of humility. Christ in His life did not segregate between the rich and poor but lived among all. He spends more time with the poor than the rich. This is the pattern of life that God wants you to take. It is that path that takes a man up and keeps him up.

Think about Nebuchadnezzar in our text and reading of the day. Though he was great, pride took him down. Seven years became mad to the point of having the heart of an animal. Until he repented, he lost everything he thought he had built with his power.

Do you want to go higher than your contemporaries? Then, stay humble. This will set you up for greatness and keep you great.

REFLECTION

But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

James 4:6 NKJV

God gives grace to the humble to go higher but the proud sets himself up for demotion.

PRAYER

Father, please help me to be humble so that I can go higher and keep going higher in Jesus’ name. Amen.
