Keep Your Fire Burning

Text: Jeremiah 20:9

Further Reading: Jeremiah 20:1-12

Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not.

Jeremiah 20:9 NKJV

MESSAGE

When you see any Christian on fire for God, you must understand that even though such a fellow desires and hunger for it, God ultimately decides to set such person on a fire. This agrees with the scripture that God is the one who is at work in us both to will and to do His good pleasure (Philippians 2:13).

It takes fire to truly be effective as a child of God against the enemies of Christ in this generation. Although this has been the same in the past, but this generation does need many men on fire to silence the demonic propagandists pushing for perverse ideologies in the sexual and reproductive health sector, those warmongers in top governments, and hosts of false prophets in our time.

One fellow who had this fire became unstoppable by the forces of men. The Bible spoke about Jeremiah in our text of the day as a man burning with God’s fire. Nothing would stop him from standing against every evil practice in his time.

God still wants to do the same today but with men who are constantly on fire. God does not what us to be in between, it is either we are hot or cold. It is either we are on fire for Him or we are not.

But the most important work lies with us, God has done the most difficult thing which is to light us up. We are then responsible to keep the fire burning. We are the once who will have to pray, fast, and study the word of God to keep us more fresh and shining.

Until we continue to look at Christ in the place of prayer and the study of His word, we will not be able to sustain the fire of God inside. But when you look at Him, God will begin to transform you from one level of glory (fire) to another (2 Corinthians 3:18). Likewise, you will be fully of His fire and you will never be ashamed (Psalms 34:5).

If you will keep the fire of God in you burning, then you must always be connected to the God of the fire. Remember that without Him you not only nothing but also, you can do nothing.

REFLECTION

The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.

Leviticus 6:13 KJV

Those who have not experienced God’s fire must ask today and those who are already immersed in His Holy Ghost must pray for the grace and power to keep their fire burning.

PRAYER

Father, please set me ablaze for you and never let your fire run out in my life.
