Also you shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi as king over Israel. And Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place.

1 Kings 19:16 NKJV

MESSAGE

Elijah the man of God was a man of great credentials and stature before God and men. His exemplary prayer life even gained traction in the new testament.

Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.
James 5:17 NKJV

This was a prophet like no other and his life was full of miracles. But a time came when he was discouraged and was on the verge of giving up. Elijah felt he was other only one faithfully serving God unknown to him that God has seven thousand people in reserve.

Are you like Elijah saying, “Lord, they have killed Your prophets and torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life”? Romans 11:3 NKJV. You are not the only one left, God has more people.

In our text and reading of the day, you will see how God chose someone else to take the place of Elijah. This is because God can not be handicapped. If a man says he can’t do His work, He finds someone else to do it.

Beloved, I want to say to you that n matter what challenges you are facing while serving God, do not murmur or complain but rather with prayer and supplication and thanksgiving tell God your need (Philippians 4:6). When you do this, instead of being replaced, the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:7 NKJV

REFLECTION

Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.

Acts 10:34 NKJV

No favoritism with God. If you chose to be useful in His hands, He keeps using you, but if you turn otherwise, He has many better people to use for His glory.

PRAYER

Father, please help me to persist with you in the face of difficulties and hardship in Jesus’ name. Amen.
