After The Victory 3

Text: Numbers 20:12

Further Reading: Numbers 20:1-13

Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”

Numbers 20:12 NKJV

MESSAGE

Moses was a man who had a great commendation before God. When Dathan, Korah, and Abiram spoke against him, God Himself dealt with them (Numbers 16:1-35). God would not even spare Moses’s sister Miriam when she spoke rudely to the servant of God.

In one of God’s commendations of Moses, He said, If there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream. Not so with My servant Moses; He is faithful in all My house. I speak with him face to face, Even plainly, and not in dark sayings; And he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant Moses?”
Numbers 12:6‭-‬8 NKJV (Read Hebrews 3:1-5).

See how God magnified Moses because of his faithfulness, yet the enemy never rested. He kept on attempting to ruin Moses. Though he could not kill Moses as a child, he kept on targeting the weakness in him.

In Exodus 32, the children of Israel decided to make themselves a golden calf when they could not see Moses after forty days with the Lord. God was angry but Moses was angrier. He came down the mountain and broke the tables of stones that he had spent forty days to receive.

What is the relationship between breaking the written commandments that God had given him and what the people had done? All of his fellowship of forty days was destroyed by a moment of anger. The enemy simply waited for him down the mountain after such a major time with God.

In our text and reading of the day, the enemy would still not give up on Moses’ life. He went further to use anger to rob Moses of access to the promised land. All that Moses had labored for was tainted by another moment of angry reaction.

Watch out, the enemy will use a weakness in your life as means of attack after your greatest victory. You must guard against those weaknesses and ask the Lord for the power to overcome them. Always ask the Lord to help you deal with such weaknesses before they become a snare to you. Ask the Lord to help you grow in the spirit and manifest fully all the fruits of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).

REFLECTION

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Galatians 5:16 NKJV

Deal with any notable weakness in your life or else it will become satan instrument of attack against you.

PRAYER

Father, please help me to walk in the Spirit always and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its base desire.
