Further Reading: 2 Timothy 2:19-22

Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.

2 Timothy 2:21 NKJV

MESSAGE

God can only use pure vessels. The Bible says that you must be pure before you can ever come near His holy mountain (Psalms 24:3-4). By implication purity of life is nonnegotiable for anyone who will serve a holy God.

The Bible says that your worship will not even be acceptable if it is not done in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). Believers who have come so close to God’s power have been people who placed a premium value on the purity of life.

To understand how important this purity is, check the life of Isaiah the prophet. Before Isaiah encountered the holy God who sits upon His throne of glory, he confessed that he was an unclean man with unclean lips. Until God had purified Isaiah, there could be no commissioning into ministry (Isaiah 6:1-9).

If anyone tells you that God is not interested in your purity such a fellow wants you to only end up unstable by God. In fact, God wants you to be pure in your spirit, soul, and body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). You must therefore be willing and desperate to cleanse yourself from every impurity.

Our text of the day says that you must purge yourself of every sin and sinfulness so that you can become God’s vessel of honor. Are you struggling with certain habits and practices? It is time to purge yourself by exposing such sin by confessing to God who you are as Isaiah did. It is time to allow God’s word to do a thorough search of your inner life. This is not the time to pretend, this is the time to be naked before the Lord who is willing to transform your life.

Today, God is in search of pure vessels to use for His glory, will you be among them? Will you be among the people who have kept themselves pure from the corruption of this world by consecrating their lives wholly to God?

REFLECTION

Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”

2 Corinthians 6:17 NKJV

The decision not to touch unclean things is yours. The decision to come out of the wrong associations is all yours. Therefore make up your mind, to be pure by avoiding those habits and associations that make you impure.

PRAYER

Father, please give me the inner power to deal with every form of sin, bad habits, and behavior in my life.
