MESSAGE
Today, many people including Christians now trivialize sexual sin. They treat it as if it is a normal thing. Many Church leaders are even caught in the web of pornography and other immoral practices. They have not only brought disrepute to the name of God but they have also allowed the same unclean spirits to operate freely among the people of God.
Such an instance was recorded among the people in Corinth Church. These were people who were highly gifted in spiritual things but many behaved immorally. Paul declares to them that such a way of living will lead only to eternal damnation.
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
I Corinthians 6:9-10 NKJV
In 1 Corinthians 6:18, the word of God says that the believer should flee sexual sin. Notice that it is you who will need to flee. An angel will not do it for you, you will have to do it yourself. You have to flee!
Remember Joseph, when Mrs. Portiphar wanted to ruin his destiny, the young man simply fled. He ran away even if it meant he ran naked, but he remained pure for God to use in his generation. Because God uses holy and clean vessels, it is important to keep ourselves pure.
The Bible says that each of us should know how to possess our own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God;
I Thessalonians 4:4-5 NKJV
This is the place where self-discipline, consecration, a holy determination will be needed. You must also trust God to keep you pure in this crooked and perverse world.
REFLECTION
God wants to work in and through you but you have to keep yourself clean from all forms of sexual impurities. Ask God to deliver you if you are struggling with any form of sexual perversion.
PRAYER
Father, please don’t let me fall into any form of sexual sin. Help me to know when to flee such temptations.
