MESSAGE
The call to walk in the light is not to the unsaved but to believers who have experienced the transformation power of God’s grace. They are those who have been translated from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of God’s marvelous light (Colossians 1:13).
The Bible made it clear that we were once darkness but are now God’s children because of the light of Christ.
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light
Ephesians 5:8 NKJV
This charge must be heeded because to live otherwise is to misrepresent Christ who Himself is the light of the world. The Bible says that God, our Father is light, and in Him, there is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5). What this means is that there shouldn’t be found in us any form of darkness or its works.
Sin represents darkness, therefore we must avoid it at all costs. We cannot allow any form of sinful practice to take us back into darkness. Our text of the day gives us a clear way to stay out of darkness, and it is by constant fellowship with God who is light.
Remember, it was the light of God that cast away our darkness initially. Therefore, we must constantly stay connected to the light. By so doing, God cleanses us from the guilt and consequences of our mistakes the blood of Jesus.
Are walking in close communion with God? Are you staying in the light of His word and keeping them? By so doing you will continue to live a life void of darkness and is continually lighted by Jesus Christ the light of the world.
REFLECTION
As long as you walk in the light of Christ, darkness can never overcome you. So, stay in the light by staying away from sin.
PRAYER
Father, please help me to keep walking in the light of Jesus and His word. Amen.
